Tax Accountant (US Indirect Tax)

Responsibilities

  • Preparing complete and accurate sales and use tax returns;
  • Ensuring returns are filed on time;
  • Preparing monthly reconciliations of tax accrual accounts;
  • Preparing license requests for state sales and use tax;
  • Retrieving tax reports from various sales channels (Amazon, Shopify, eBay, etc.) for comparison against tax software;
  • Maintaining Amazon product categories and tax codes;
  • Communicating effectively with multiple departments to ensure all sales channels are properly onboarded from a tax perspective (new deals);
  • Researching the latest sales & use tax laws and regulations;
  • Corresponding with state taxing authorities;
  • Collaborating with the wholesale team to complete retail exemption certificates;
  • Organizing audit work papers and fulfilling data requests of external auditors;
  • Assisting managers with special projects.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience; preferably in high tech and/or retail environment;
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a senior tax accountant;
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or any related field;
  • Broad knowledge in US Direct and Indirect Tax (Sales Tax, Use Tax, Business Tax) operations, specifically in tax administration and compliance process;
  • Proficient in handling medium to complex US Indirect Tax Returns.
  • Strong spreadsheet (Excel) skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to deliver timely, accurate results in a fast-paced work environment;
  • An analytical thinker who can quickly interpret information and understand the needs across a variety of products, technologies, and disciplines;
  • A highly driven go-getter who can collaborate and communicate effectively within a team of professionals;
  • A highly resourceful and innovative individual who can come up with fresh ideas and approaches that promote excellence and efficiency at work.
